What is GPA vs. CGPA?
GPA (Grade Point Average) measures your performance in a single semester or academic term. It's calculated by dividing the total grade points earned by the total credit hours attempted for that specific period.
CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) represents your overall academic performance across all semesters. It's the weighted average of all your GPAs, accounting for the credit hours of each semester.
Metric | Scope | Calculation | Importance |
---|---|---|---|
GPA | Single semester | Semester grade points ÷ semester credits | Short-term performance |
CGPA | All semesters | Total grade points ÷ total credits | Overall academic record |
